How the numbers work

Methodology

Blanked presents simple summaries of anonymous, self-reported candidate experiences—not a scientific sample of every applicant.

What a report contains

Each report records an employer, whether the candidate only applied or reached an interview, and whether they were blanked or received a reply. “They replied” includes a rejection, offer, or confirmed application closure. People who received a reply can optionally add a rough time bucket. Occasional optional structured questions may record a waiting-duration bucket, candidate-reported final outcome, or whether they would apply again.

Anonymous and one per browser

No account is required. A random browser identifier lets Blanked accept one report per employer from that browser. Clearing browser data can allow another report; the MVP accepts this limitation rather than fingerprinting people.

Ranking thresholds

Percentages describe Blanked candidate reports, not all applicants. Employers need at least the configured minimum number of reports before receiving a numbered rank. The after-interview view uses a separate interview-report threshold. Smaller samples appear only as early data.

Adaptive feed

The feed uses broad selected market, optional broad role interests, weak skip signals, saved-report affinity, employer recognition, under-reporting, diversity, and controlled exploration. This affects which eligible employer appears next; it never changes an employer’s percentage or rank.

Calculations

  • Blanked rate: eligible reports with no final outcome ÷ all eligible reports.
  • Reply rate: reports with a final outcome ÷ all eligible reports.
  • Blanked after interview: eligible interview-stage reports with no final outcome ÷ all eligible interview-stage reports.
  • Interview rate: eligible interview-stage reports ÷ all eligible reports.
  • Reply speed: timed replied reports in each rough duration bucket ÷ all timed replied reports.

A blanked report whose optional waiting-duration answer is under two weeks is treated as potentially unresolved and excluded from public percentages and ranking sample counts. It remains in the owner’s raw submission totals and the browser can later update its employer report. Speed labels appear only after at least the configured minimum number of timed replies.

Responsible interpretation

Candidate-reported outcomes are not employer offer rates or guarantees. Reports are not independently verified, and reported interview and response rates do not guarantee another candidate’s outcome. Advertising and sponsorship never affect employer selection, percentages, visibility, or rank.
